Sheriff Bobby Eggleton

Bobby Eggleton is one of the most experienced law enforcement officers in Putnam County. He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He was a Charleston Police Officer for more than 20 years, he worked on inner-city patrols, rose to Assistant Chief of the Detective Bureau, served on the Sniper Task Force, and served as commander of the Special Enforcement Unit handling street crimes such as drugs, theft, and prostitution. Since retiring from the Charleston Police Office, he has served as chief of police in Winfield and Nitro. Bobby Eggleton also has extensive experience as a small business owner and operator. His skills include working with the public, fighting crime at all levels, balancing budgets and managing staff.

Shamblin

Chief Deputy Shane Shamblin

Chief Deputy Shane Shamblin has been with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office since February 16, 1998. After graduating from the West Virginia State Police Academy’s 101St Basic Officers class (Institute, WV, 1998), Chief Shamblin was assigned to road patrol night shift. During his career, Chief Shamblin was a member of the Office’s Special Response Team, K-9 handler to K-9 Flint, and from 2015-2020, Chief Deputy Shamblin was recognized as a “top 50 DUI officer” in the State of West Virginia. Chief Shamblin reached this office’s highest non—appointed rank of Lieutenant in 2021.

Chief Deputy Shamblin is a 1992 graduate from Nitro High School. Other educational accomplishments include a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice (West Virginia State University, 1996), Master‘s degree in Criminal Justice Administration (West Virginia State University, 2018), a graduate from West Virginia’s second ever Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) school (Huntington, WV/Phoenix, AZ, 2016) and a graduate from the 275th session of the prestigious FBI National Police Academy (Quantico, VA, 2018).

Chief Deputy Shamblin’s goal is to promote a healthy relationship between the Sheriff’s office and the community through cooperation and transparency.
