Sheriff Bobby Eggleton
Bobby Eggleton is one of the most experienced law enforcement officers in Putnam County. He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. As a Charleston Police Officer for more than 20 years, he worked on inner-city patrols, rose to assist chief in the Detective Bureau, served on the Sniper Task Force, and served as commander of the Special Enforcement Unit handling street crimes such as drugs, theft, and prostitution. Since retiring from the Charleston Police Department, he has served as chief of police in Winfield and Nitro. Bobby Eggleton also has extensive experience as a small business owner and operator. His skills include working with the public, fighting crime at all levels, balancing budgets and managing staff.
Chief Deputy Eric S. Hayzlett
Chief Deputy Eric S. Hayzlett began his law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department on July 1st 1995 where he rose through the ranks achieving the civil service rank of Staff Services Lieutenant in August 2005, and was promoted to Chief Deputy in May 2013. Chief Hayzlett is a graduate of Winfield High School, West Virginia State University, the 92nd Basic Class of the West Virginia State Police Academy, and the 252nd Session of the FBI National Academy.
Chief Deputy Hayzlett has worked in many divisions of the Putnam County Sheriff Department to include Road Patrol, Drug Task Force, K-9 Handler, Special Response Team, and Dive Team. Chief Hayzlett has completed many law enforcement training courses in a variety of areas and is a West Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Committee Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor.
